December 10, 2009 - Boulder, Colorado - The 2009 Northstar Imperial Porter has officially been released and is tasting better than ever. The beer is available in 22 oz bottles throughout Colorado and Texas. Our porter is brewed using traditional Baltic-style Porter ingredients. Notes of chocolate and toffee dominate the palate while a combination of American and British hops balance this beer out. "Baltic porters make wonderful winter beers. With their deep, almost black color and robust flavor, the style, especially the Imperial Porter, provides a welcome winter warmer," says Bob Baile, President and Brewmaster of Twisted Pine. This is the perfect beer for après ski or just resting by the fireplace at night. The beer comes in at 9% alcohol by volume, which you would never know from how smoothly it drinks. To reach this desired flavor, brewers literally pack as much grain into the mash tun as it can hold. "It takes a lot of extra time and effort," says brewer Jeff Buckley, "but the end result is something that is truly unique and special." Twisted Pine has been brewing the Northstar Imperial Porter since 2002. It has only grown in popularity since its inception and has received rave reviews, earning a World Beer Cup Silver Medal in 2006 along with a "96" rating on Ratebeer.com. The night before the release Twisted Pine held a vertical tasting of 5 vintages of this beer, with bottles dating back to 2004.
