Shipyard Brewing Co. Expands Statewide in California

July 10, 2005 - PORTLAND, MAINE - After 3 years of building its market in California, The Shipyard Brewing Company of Portland, Maine sails into the 3rd quarter announcing statewide distribution in California by Wine Warehouse. Wine Warehouse is well known for distributing upscale international and domestic craft beer from its facilities in Los Angeles and Richmond.

Bruce Forsley, Shipyard's director of sales and marketing, expects Shipyard IPA will be a top seller. "Shipyard IPA is the lead Shipyard beer outside New England and the fastest growing Shipyard brand. It is particularly appealing in California as a less hoppy alternative to traditional, highly-hopped west coast brews."

Shipyard's Old Thumper is also an award-winning favorite in California. In 2004, Old Thumper won "Best in Show" at the Los Angeles County Fair. This extra special ale also took 1st place in the English Pale Ale categories at both the California and West Coast Brewers Festivals.

Shipyard's line of hand-crafted beer can now be found statewide in California at Beverages & More!, Whole Foods, and, soon, Trader Joe's. In addition, Shipyard's handcrafted beer can be found in Northern California at Albertsons, Andronico's, Save Mart, Nugget Markets, PW Markets, Draeger's Markets, and Oliver's Markets.

Shipyard Export and Old Thumper are both also available on draft in Northern California.

The Shipyard Brewing Company was founded in 1994 by master brewer Alan Pugsley and entrepreneur Fred Forsley. Shipyard produces 13 varieties of award-winning English style and seasonal beers and its products are distributed in over 25 states, including: Texas, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Michigan.
